Time Commitment: 14-21 day Deployment to disaster sites
Location: Disaster response sites (local or nationwide)
Requirement: Must be an endorsed, credentialed spiritual care provider

Support recovery by caring for the spiritual and emotional well‑being of people impacted by disaster. As a Disaster Spiritual Care (DSC) Team Volunteer, you offer presence, compassion, and support—helping individuals and families draw on their own beliefs, values, and sources of strength during times of crisis.

Who Can Serve:

This role is open to endorsed and credentialed spiritual care providers, including:

  • Board‑certified or professionally endorsed chaplains
  • Clergy or leaders of faith communities with formal endorsement
  • Disaster Spiritual Care providers in good standing with VOAD member organizations

(All volunteers complete Red Cross screening and required training.)

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide disaster spiritual care to individuals and families impacted by crisis
  • Support survivors in utilizing their own spiritual resources, regardless of faith tradition
  • Participate in local disaster responses, such as home fire incidents
  • Assist with preparedness, recovery, and long‑term support efforts
  • Offer spiritual care support to Red Cross responders when requested
