Be there when it matters most. As a Disaster Action Team (DAT) Responder, you help individuals and families begin their path to recovery after local disasters—such as home fires—by providing care, connection, and compassion during some of their hardest moments.
When first responders secure the scene, the Red Cross focuses on the people impacted.
What You’ll Do:
- Respond locally as part of a 2‑person team, typically within 2 hours of a call
- Meet with individuals or families impacted by disaster
- Conduct an intake to understand immediate needs
- Connect clients to additional Red Cross support, including mental, spiritual, and physical health resources
- Offer calm, compassionate support during a crisis
