As an Emergency Hope & Relief Sort & Provide Volunteer, you'll help prepare clothing and essential items for individuals and families experiencing emergencies such as house fires, domestic violence, natural disasters, displacement, medical emergencies, or other crises. Your efforts ensure that each family receives clean, organized, and thoughtfully selected items as quickly as possible.
This ongoing volunteer opportunity is perfect for individuals who enjoy organizing, working behind the scenes, and making a meaningful impact in times of need.
Responsibilities include:
- Sort, inspect, and organize donated clothing, shoes, and essential items.
- Select appropriate clothing and necessities based on emergency request forms and family needs.
- Prepare emergency clothing packages by size, season, and requested items.
- Label, organize, and stage completed orders for pickup or delivery.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked emergency inventory.
- Restock shelves and notify program leadership when supplies are running low.
- Handle all donations and recipient information with care, compassion, and confidentiality.
- Assist with other Emergency Hope & Relief Program tasks as needed.
Requirements:
- Must be 16 years of age or older (volunteers under 18 must have parental consent).
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and organize clothing and supplies.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to preparing quality emergency orders.
- Compassionate, dependable, and respectful of each family's privacy.
- Must complete all required volunteer onboarding.
