The Emergency Hope & Relief Program Lead oversees Oak Grove Community Closet's ongoing Emergency Hope & Relief Program, which provides clothing and essential items to individuals and families experiencing urgent situations such as house fires, domestic violence, displacement, natural disasters, medical emergencies, or other unforeseen crises.

This volunteer serves as the primary coordinator for the program, working with referrals, volunteers, and community partners to ensure emergency requests are handled with compassion, dignity, and efficiency.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review and coordinate emergency assistance requests submitted through the Emergency Hope & Relief Program.
  • Communicate with referred families, partnering agencies, and volunteers as needed.
  • Coordinate volunteers to gather, prepare, and distribute requested clothing and essential items.
  • Schedule emergency pickups or deliveries when appropriate.
  • Maintain organized records of emergency requests while protecting confidential information.
  • Help monitor inventory to ensure emergency essentials remain available.
  • Work with community organizations, churches, schools, first responders, and social service agencies to coordinate assistance.
  • Identify program needs and recommend improvements to strengthen emergency response efforts.
  • Support volunteer recruitment and training for the Emergency Hope & Relief Program.

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Compassionate, dependable, and organized.
  • Comfortable communicating by phone, email, and text.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with discretion.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Must successfully complete all required volunteer onboarding, including any required background screening.

Time Commitment:

  • Ongoing volunteer position
  • Flexible schedule with availability to respond to emergency requests as they arise.
  • Some remote coordination may be completed from home, with occasional on-site assistance as needed.
