In this introductory class, students will learn Modern Calligraphy, which is a personalized style that varies from person to person, allowing more creative freedom. In addition, this style is easier to learn compared to classical calligraphy. Modern Calligraphy is cursive-based so being able to write in cursive is recommended but not required.
As a goal, students will learn how to write their full name in Modern Calligraphy. The instructor will also introduce appropriate pens and paper types for successful calligraphy. There will be time for practice of these new skills.
Jackson Thorn has been practicing calligraphy for about 10 years. He previously taught introductory Classic Calligraphy at the Heritage Arts Center as well as at the Northumberland Country library.
