June 6: Join Garfield’s Rescue volunteers at their booth at Irvington Farmer’s Market. Condos of playful, energetic kittens will be on display for visitor enjoyment. Volunteers will educate the visiting public on their lifesaving rescue mission of homeless (community) cats. Lifesaving benefits of spay/neuter surgery will be discussed, that is the only 100% method of birth control in cats to reverse their endless cycle of reproduction; and the urgency of vaccinating one’s pets to treat and prevent the spread of life-threatening disease. Informational fliers will be on display to discuss volunteer opportunities, membership and the benefits of fostering. Cat adoption applications will be available for Garfield’s consideration, but there will be no on site adoptions. Outside cat shelters will be on display with construction instructions. Use of Traps for trapping strays and/or colony cats to provide spay/neuter/vaccination services and return to a well managed cat colony, or brought into Garfield’s Rescue’s foster to adopt program.
