Volunteers with Garfield’s Rescue, Inc. (GRI), the Northern Neck’s homeless cat & kitten rescue, foster to adopt organization have been invited by Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury (RWC) to bring their foster kittens for residents’ enjoyment and entertainment, and to discuss their humane homeless cat rescue mission Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 1:00. Garfield’s volunteers visit RWC several times a year with their foster kittens to bring joy into the lives of many residents who may have lost their own pets. Residents from RWC independent living, assisted living and staff enjoy the antics of GRI’s many playful, adoptable “balls of fur” brought for endless entertainment and fun. Residents get to cuddle with the kittens and play with them with string toys until ALL tire out! Garfield’s volunteers discuss their lifesaving mission of service to the 4 Northern Neck (NN) counties in their rescue of one of the region’s most vulnerable populations - homeless, abandoned cats and kittens. Residents learn the importance of sterilizing their pets to reverse their endless cycle of reproduction and to vaccinate them to prevent and treat life threatening disease. Garfield’s has rescued and provided these lifesaving services for more than 2100 cats and kittens, fostering them in a safe, home environment where they thrive until adoption into a loving permanent home.
