Opportunities From: Volunteer River Counties

Volunteer: Medical Volunteers - Middlesex

The Three Rivers Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is in need of medically certified Volunteers across its district of ten counties to build community resilience, provide education, and bolster response efforts during large-scale emergencies.

You never know when your community might need you. It could be because of a natural disaster, a biological emergency, a terrorist attack, or the outbreak of a communicable disease, such as H1N1. In emergencies, MRC Volunteers provide the additional staffing needed to save lives by helping public health teams distribute medication and by offering medical and mental health care.

The MRC also supports public health at other times by assuring accessibility to health care, improving healthcare literacy, and partnering with other organizations that promote public health and healthcare education, such as CPR and STOP THE BLEED® trainings.

All health professionals - no matter your practice or specialty - are encouraged to volunteer. From doctors and lab technicians to medical records technicians and mental health counselors, your skills can be in high demand during times of crisis.

To become a VA Medical Reserve Corps Volunteer, please submit an application in the Virginia Volunteer Health System.
