The Fairfield Foundation is renovating the Timberneck House (c. 1793) within Machicomoco State Park as a place for learning, lodging, and exploring Virginia’s Middle Peninsula. The restored house will feature a number of exhibits discussing the history and persistence of Virginia Indians, the history of Timberneck farm, and highlighting many local sites of interest in and near Gloucester County.
We hold open houses on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month from 10am-2pm, April to October. Tours will cover the history of the house and the restoration process, which is nearing completion! Some days have additional activities, like the Turkey Trot on November 21, and we'll need additional folks then. The house has air conditioning and working bathrooms, so it's a very pleasant place to docents to give tours!
Lori Jackson Black, Fairfield's Project Manager, will be able to provide docent training and the guidebook used for tours.
