Pet Sheltering Volunteers assist in the setup and operation of emergency pet shelters during disasters. Volunteers ensure animals are cared for, secure, and comfortable, while also helping their owners during stressful times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help set up pet shelter areas, including cages, food stations, signage, and intake areas.
  • Register and intake pets, documenting owner information and any medical or dietary needs.
  • Provide basic animal care/ monitoring general health. Owners will be responsible for feeding, watering, cleaning enclosures and walking dogs/
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for animals and people alike.
  • Support communication with pet owners and ensure appropriate protocols are followed for visits and reunification.
  • Work with animal control, veterinarians, or sheltering partners as needed.

Why This Role Matters:
For many families, pets are family too. Pet Sheltering Volunteers ensure that during a crisis, people don’t have to choose between personal safety and their animals. By providing a safe haven for pets, we support the emotional well-being of both animals and their owners.
