Do you want to meet others who share your love of history? Add to your community service hours on your volunteer resume? Can you work at least two three-hour shifts per month during the April - November season? Become a junior docent at Historic Christ Church & Museum!
Qualifications:
- Love of history and a willingness to learn about HCC&M and the Carter family.
- Comfortable speaking to small groups (or wanting to practice and become comfortable doing so!).
- Daytime availability for at least two three-hour shifts per month between April-November
Responsibilities:
- Work with an adult docent to lead individual and small group tours of the Church and the grounds.
- Answer questions from visitors as they tour the museum, or guide them to other resources or staff who can answer their question.
- Understand the themes and content of The Red Book: A Guide to Historic Christ Church.
Time Commitment:
- At least two three-hour shifts per month during the April - November season.
Training and Support:
- You will be partnered with a Docent during your shifts, who will provide you with mentorship and support.
- Spring Training is strongly encouraged (three days in March or early April).
- The Red Book, tour talking points, and shadowing opportunities are provided.
- Other learning options are the Red Book Roundtable, HCC&M lecture series, & field trips.
