As we honor today's history and the call to serve on the annual 9/11 National Day of Service, we are thrilled to announce that two anchor partners from Volunteer River Counties have been selected to receive 9/11 Day of Service Mini Grants through the Virginia Service Foundation. The Foundation's biannual National Days of Service Mini Grants support service projects that engage individual and group volunteers in opportunities to serve others in honor of 9/11 Day of Remembrance in September and Martin Luther King Jr. Day in January.
We are so pleased that the Deltaville Museum and Holly Point Nature Park and the Northumberland Association for Progressive Stewardship (NAPS) were both awarded mini-grants of up to $250 to defray the cost of projects they are carrying out in September that honor the spirit of service and community.
"The Virginia Service Foundation is honored to join the national effort to transform the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack into the largest day of service across America. We must never forget. The VSF's National Days of Service Mini Grants are one way that we can support local organizations working to engage volunteers and honor all 9/11 families and first responders," said Julie Strandlie, Chair of the Virginia Service Foundation.
