Highlights from the Hub Launch

September was brimming with special volunteer events, a public awareness blitz, and weekly raffles. Read on for a quick summary of Launch month:

Volunteer Sign Ups: We are excited to share that more than 150 volunteers have joined the Hub so far, the number of non-profit organizations partnering with us has grown to 63, and that volunteers have more than 150 posted volunteer events and opportunities to check out! We are so grateful to you, the early adopters, who have opened accounts on the Volunteer River Counties hub and helped lift this new initiative to encourage and support the culture of volunteerism in the region.

Volunteers with the Northumberland Association for Progressive Stewardship (NAPS) head back into shore with the results of their cleanup event work on Cockrell's Creek on September 14th.

Raffle Results: With the many generous donations from our partners, we were able to award valuable prizes to 16 different volunteers registered on the hub in four weekly drawings over the course of the month. We are grateful to the Lancaster Community Library for their willingness to be the prize pick up location, and to the following organizations for donating prizes: Boys and Girls Club of the Northern Neck, Deltaville Maritime Museum, Historic Christ Church & Museum, Northumberland County Historical Society, Northumberland County Lions Club, Northumberland Public Library, Reedville Fishermen's Museum, Steamboat Era Museum, The Haven, Three Rivers Medical Reserve Corps, and Tidewater Oyster Gardeners Association.

Hub Highlight

Build Up Your Volunteer Resume on the Hub!

Did you know? When you log into your Hub user account, you may have noticed the link to "View your full Volunteer Resume." Follow that link to be taken to the centralized location for tracking your volunteer interests and activities. It's a great place to keep tabs on volunteer hours to report for school or work, to see what shifts you have signed up for in the near future, and to hone your selection of volunteer interests so that you'll receive automatic notifications when opportunities come up that match!

Remember: All your volunteer information on the Hub is private, except for what YOU choose to share with your favorite organizations--name, email address, and "qualification" documents like your driver's license or background check completion certificates when necessary for particular positions. So you can keep your volunteer records on the Hub with confidence, knowing you'll have them when you need them!
