Who We Are

On April 1, 2008, BGCNN opened its doors at Lancaster Middle School, to an overwhelming community response. Within the first days of operation the Club reached its location capacity of 100 members, and in 2009, we moved to our Main Street Kilmarnock location. In 2019 a catastrophic fire destroyed the club and the community rallied around the organization. And through a capital campaign and the dedication and efforts of many, the club re-opened its doors one year later.

For the past 17 years we have been in the forefront of local youth development, working with young people from all economic, social, and/or family circumstances. Our programs emphasize academics, development of character and leadership skills, and healthy lifestyles choices. We are dedicated to ensuring that our community’s youth have greater access to programs and services that will enhance their lives and shape their futures. In short, we provide our members with hope and opportunity.

What We Do

The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck (BGCNN) strives to provide affordable, safe, diverse, and mission-driven programs for youth ages 6 to 18. This is accomplished through tested, proven, measurable Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) programs, as well as by providing a fun atmosphere for youth to learn and grow. We are currently serving Lancaster, Northumberland, and Richmond County and will be offering Summer Camp in Westmoreland County this summer.

We achieve this by implementing a proven formula for impact modeled by Boys & Girls Clubs across the country. Young people excel when they have:

·      A Safe and Positive Environment.

·      Fun!

·     Supportive Relationships with caring adults.

·      Opportunities and Expectations to learn and try new things.

·      Recognition for participation, and meeting expectations, and goals.

By reinforcing these core values, we can help our children reach for the stars and build towards a greater future.
