Northumberland County’s volunteer public safety parters deliver essential emergency response and life-safety services to the community through a coordinated, countywide system of fire protection, emergency medical services, rescue operations, and disaster response. Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, these agencies provide rapid, professional responses to emergencies ranging from medical incidents and fires to motor vehicle collisions, severe weather events, and other hazards that impact public safety.

Working in close coordination with the Department of Emergency Services, they support system-wide preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery efforts, contributing to a unified approach to emergency management.

Beyond emergency response, Northumberland County’s volunteer public safety partners play a critical role in community risk reduction and public education. This includes participation in fire prevention initiatives, emergency preparedness outreach, and efforts aimed at reducing preventable injuries, property loss, and loss of life.
